I just tossed together a download page for PHPetal. Until I get an anonymous cvs repository set up, the latest build of PHPetal will be available here
PHPetal 0.5 Is Available
No one seems to have found any serious issues with it, so download version 0.5 if
you feel up to it. Highlights: Optionally static-renders blosxom after
posting. Fixed a very annoying bug which caused quotes to be escaped
in posts.
PHPetal 0.4 Is Available
There’s a new version of PHPetal. The major change is that it (optionally) pings weblogs.com after posting. I needed to add a couple new configuration settings in order to implement this. Anyone interested may download it here. Remember, this is still rather experimental, so please let me know ([ if you run into any problems.
PHPetal 0.3 Available
I’ve got an update to PHPetal available for download here. Guess we’ll call it version 0.3.
Changes are:
- Allows posting to nested categories
- Added setting for default file suffix
- Changed posting form title to something less annoying
Thanks to Tony Williams for sending me a patch for allowing posts to nested categories.
PHPetal 0.2 (Alpha)
I’ve been using PHPetal for a few days now with very few problems. It’s time to let folks break it and send me complaints/feedback and such. So I’ve made it available for download. This is a very early version, so any bugs, feature suggestions or comments are more than welcome.
Download: phpetal-0_2.tgz
Update: The latest version will always be found on the downloads page
PHPetal
I’ve almost got my little php blog posting app to a point where it’s usable. Even made a bookmarklet for it. I’m not clever enough to come up with a great name for it, so right now I’m using “PHPetal.” I’ll post a version in the next day or so if anyone is interested.
Paul Graham on Hackers and Painters
I’ve always tended to equate, or at least compare, programming and
poetry. Paul Graham does it too, using painters for comparison. It’s a
“I think hackers just have to resign themselves to having a large
random component in their reputations.”
…
“You need a good sense of design to judge good design. And there is no
correlation, except possibly a negative one, between people’s ability
to recognize good design and their confidence that they can.”
…
“t seems surprising to me that any employer would be reluctant to let
hackers work on open-source projects. At Viaweb, we would have been
reluctant to hire anyone who didn’t. When we interviewed programmers,
the main thing we cared about was what kind of software they wrote in
their spare time. You can’t do anything really well unless you love it,
and if you love to hack you’ll inevitably be working on projects of your
own.”
Opera Releases Bork Edition
This is why I use Opera.
Opera Just Got Noisy
One of Opera’s in-browser ads just started talking to me - loudly. That sort of thing has got to stop. Anyone know who I can complain to?
OpenEXR
Industrial Light and Magic releases a new image format,
Its libraries are free and released under a modified BSD license. Most
of it’s feature list is beyond my almost non-existant grasp of image
formats, but it sure sounds cool.
