ZOE to the Rescue… Again

I sometimes almost forget that ZOE is running on my machine, grabbing stuff, categorizing and cross-referencing things I’m not even thinking about. Today I accidentally deleted a Movable Type post. No problem, I just did a quick search using ZOE and found the entry. A copy/paste/publish later and we’re back to normal. It’s also been known to save me when I get a litte aggressive with the delete key while reading email.

Feathered Hair

Okay, so every girl in my high school yearbook looked like this.

Update: I see T.M. already posted this one, and with a better title.

Quote for Today

“To the cactus, all flowers appear as orchids; delicate and silly”…

Why Is Tihs Not Dicuffit to Raed?

64.94.110.11 Is the Last Straw

As if my hot and spikey hatred of Verisign wasn’t hot and spikey enough….

As of Monday morning, Sept 15th, Verisign has apparently taken it upon themselves to add a wildcard A record to the TLD zones for .com and .net. The IP is 64.94.110.11, which resolves to sitefinder.verisign.com. That’s right, this means all mistyped domain names go directly to a page on one of Verisign’s servers. Bastards. They don’t get another penny from me or anyone I can convince to do the same.

Font Browser

Okay, here’s an example of a small Flash app that was useful, and I actually had to right click to make sure it was Flash. Getting closer.

The End of Plug-ins?

If Eolas ends up winning in spite of Microsoft’s appeals, where does it leave Flash? If an intrusive dialog box or separate players are required in order to satisfy the patent holder, even the most ardent of Flash fans are going to be in an awkward position. As Zeldman says,

Even these clumsy, expensive, painfully disruptive approaches might not satisfy the patent holder. If they do not, then where rich media is concerned, the web could soon look like 1993 all over again.

Also read this the CNet article. I’m sure everyone will come up with something that works.

Tired

This was the second time I’ve had to do this recently. Both times caused by road shrapnel.

Blogger Pro Now Free

Google has announced that they will be rolling the features of Blogger Pro into the standard Blogger product, making the service free again for everyone. Here’s the c|net article

Good, now maybe T.M. will finally have an RSS feed so I can put him in my aggregator where he belongs.
